During the introduction of the show, Volkskrant journalist Annette Embrechts takes you to the Spanish youth of Eva Yuerbabuena, grand lady of the flameno. She will also take you to the southernmost tip of Japan, the island of Amami-Oshìma, where singer Anna Sato was born and raised. The flamencostar explored with Sato the origin of the traditional songs sung by Sato and translated them into dance. In addition, she came across wonderful myths and historical events about snakes, slaves and sugar diggers. During the introduction you will hear more about the background of the used symbols and songs from the show Cuentos de Azúcar.
Meet the Artist (only in Utrecht and The Hague)
After the performance, journalist Annette Embrechts and Flamenco Biennial director Ernestina van de Noort, will interview Eva Yerbabuena and you will have the possibility to ask questions to the iconic flamenco dancer.
