Flamenco Biënnale 2015

Top Dutch flamenco performers with Spanish stars.

Peter Kalb ‘Periquín’ will feature at the Dutch Flamenco Biennial for the first time. But what a début! Given carte blanche, this Dutch top guitarist now living and working in Málaga has invited no lesser men than the cracks of the Madrid flamenco scene: guitarist and producer Paquete and master cajón player Pirañaa. These sons of singer Ramón el Portugués both boast impressive careers, having worked with big names from flamenco and jazz like Enrique Morente, Tomatito, El Cigala (Paquete produced their CDs), guitarist Pat Metheny, drummer Horacio el Negro Hernández, Wynton Marsalis, Jerry González and, inevitably, maestro Paco de Lucía. Young singer Naike Ponce provides an unalloyed ‘vintage touch’ with songs from in and around Jerez de la Frontera.

Eighteen years ago he last played RASA, with Andrès Marín. Now the world music venue in Utrecht will see the première of Periquín's latest project:  ‘Colores’.
