The Power of Flamenco

In this lecture, Josip Kešić, a researcher at the Humanities Faculty of the University of Amsterdam and a flamenco lover, will use the flamenco to take a close look at the Spanish soul, the “duende” and other clichés and stereotypes. He will also shed light on the foreign fascination with the art of flamenco, which was recognized by Unesco as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2010. Why is it that people around the world feel at home with a basically regional art form like flamenco? What is the connecting power of flamenco?
